Frequently asked questions

What is the warranty?

Every Buena Onda frame is built to be ridden hard, loaded up, depended on, and kept around for life. Our limited lifetime warranty covers manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship for the original owner, because if something is on us, we’ll make it right.

Bikes are also meant to be used, and sometimes that means crashes, mistakes, bad lines, roof racks, baggage handlers, and the occasional questionable decision. Those situations aren’t covered under warranty, but we’ll offer discounted crash replacement support whenever possible to help keep you on your Buena.

When will I get my bike?

For standard orders, we estimate 12–16 weeks from the time your order is placed. Each frame is built in small batches, and that timeline gives us room to handle production, finishing, assembly, quality checks, and shipping without rushing the process.

Our first pre-order window will open in July, and we’re aiming to have those bikes delivered by September 30. As always, we’ll keep you updated along the way if anything changes.

How does the bike ride?

The Buena Onda is built around a modern hardtail platform with enough reach and front-center length to stay composed at speed, a steep enough seat tube to keep you centered while climbing, and chainstays that balance traction, stability, and responsiveness. It’s designed to feel planted on technical terrain, efficient over long miles, and predictable when the bike is loaded with bags.

The titanium frame adds a smooth, damped ride quality without feeling muted or flexy. It takes the edge off chatter and long-day fatigue while still giving the bike a lively, direct feel under power. Paired with clearance for high-volume 29 x 2.6” tires, the result is a hardtail that carries speed, finds grip, and stays comfortable across everything from chunky singletrack to bikepacking routes.

The short version: it climbs efficiently, descends confidently, and keeps its manners whether it’s loaded for a week out or stripped down for a fast trail ride.

How do the batch-built frames differ from the MUSA custom frames?

Our batch-built frames and MUSA custom frames share the same design philosophy, ride feel, and Buena Onda geometry. Both are titanium hardtails built for long days, loaded miles, and technical trail riding.

Our batch-built frames are built in Taiwan in small production runs using our proven geometry and spec. They use a slightly different tubing package, including butted titanium tubes with thinner wall sections through the middle of the tube where we can save weight without giving up strength where it matters. They also use external cable routing to keep setup, service, and trail-side fixes simple. Mechanics rejoice.

Our MUSA custom frames are built one at a time by our Durango manufacturing partner with more than 30 years of titanium framebuilding experience. These are the choice if you want custom sizing, more personal fit considerations, and a higher-touch build experience.

The batch-built frame is the most straightforward way to get on a Buena Onda. The MUSA custom frame is for riders who want the full custom route. Both are built around the same idea: a titanium hardtail made to ride well for a very long time.

Can I ride one before buying?

Yes, but you’ll need to come see us in Durango. We’re a small bike company, so we don’t have a nationwide demo fleet, but we’re happy to get you on a bike if you can swing by.

The good news: Durango is a pretty great place to test a mountain bike. You can ride local singletrack right from town, or turn it into a proper trip with Phil’s World, Moab, and Telluride all within reach. Come ride the bike, hang out, and call it research.

Bikepacking.com Review

"My bike of the year was unquestionably the Colorado-made Buena Onda hardtail. I rode it more than anything else, and it was an invaluable companion for filling in my mental map of nearby trails. From overnighters out the front door to regular group rides and a week away in glorious Crested Butte, I fell in love with it and was more than a little pained to send it back.

In short, the Buena Onda is beautifully built, specced just right, and an absolute blast to ride on trails and lightly loaded for bikepacking. And how about that headbadge?! "
